Melted Onions

Ingredients

  • Yellow onions, peeled and halved across the middle (1 half per person, plus extra)
  • Melted butter or cooking oil, for brushing
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Directions

  • Peel the onions and slice each one in half across the equator. Set the halves cut-side up in the cups of a muffin tin — the cups hold their shape and catch the buttery juices.
  • Brush the tops generously with melted butter or cooking oil and season with salt and pepper.
  • Roast in a hot oven until the onions are meltingly soft, sweet, and golden.
  • Brush again with melted butter or cooking oil closer to the end of the cook for extra gloss and flavor.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm alongside any meal.

Sweet, buttery, and soft — the easiest side dish, and even onion skeptics like these. Method read from the video (no written recipe). From Sweet Audra Brown on Instagram.
